SCUBA Cylinder Maintenance
Stay Certified, Stay Safe, Stay Diving
Because every breath underwater depends on it – regular VIP inspections, hydrostatic testing, and O2 cleaning ensure your cylinder performs safely and reliably on every dive.
A Visual Inspection (VIP) checks your cylinder’s interior and exterior for corrosion, damage, and wear that could compromise its integrity, and is required annually to keep your tank fill-ready. This quick, thorough inspection catches small issues before they become safety concerns.
This pressure test evaluates your cylinder’s structural integrity by measuring its expansion under high pressure, ensuring it can safely handle normal fill pressures. Required every 5 years, hydro testing is a critical safeguard against metal fatigue and cylinder failure.

This specialized cleaning process removes hydrocarbons, oils, and contaminants from your cylinder that could ignite or combust when exposed to high-concentration oxygen or nitrox. It’s required for any cylinder used with gas mixtures above 40% oxygen, ensuring safe and compliant fills.
This process uses an abrasive media (like chain, ceramic pellets, or aluminum oxide) tumbled inside the cylinder to remove internal rust, scale, and corrosion that a standard VIP can’t fully address. It’s typically recommended for steel tanks showing internal oxidation, restoring the cylinder to a safe, fillable condition before its next inspection.
This non-destructive electromagnetic test detects hidden cracks and corrosion in the cylinder neck threads, and is specifically required for older aluminum cylinders (6351-T6 alloy, manufactured 1972–1990) prone to sustained load cracking. If you dive with a vintage aluminum tank, this test is essential to verify it’s still safe to fill.
This service disassembles your cylinder valve to replace worn O-rings, seats, and internal components while thoroughly cleaning it of hydrocarbons and contaminants for safe use with high-oxygen and nitrox mixes. Regular valve rebuilds prevent leaks, sticking, and failures, keeping your valve operating smoothly and safely dive after dive.
